58th International Polyphonic Contest Guido d'Arezzo, Italy • September 14-19, 2010 The 58th edition of International Polyphonic Contest Guido d’Arezzo will have 15 choirs from 13 countries: Austria, Brazil, Finland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Norway, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and Russia! Once again the Contest will be side by side with the Guidoneum Festival, a unique propose of concerts of the highest choral artists. Since 1953, the “Polifonico”, has constituted the most important stage for the choral expressions of the entire world an incomparable variety of repertoires, styles, authors and a precious stimulus for a rigorous interpretative research philologically founded, considering the selective criteria of the groups and the artistic order and organization of the competition. Tonen 2000 International Choirfestival, The Netherlands, September 23-26, 2010
Tonen2000 organizes every two years in Westland, The Netherlands, the unique international choir festival for classic chamber choirs in The Netherlands. The 6th edition will take place on September 23-26, 2010. The contest is open for non-professional mixed choirs (up to 36 members) and male and female ensembles (up to 24 members). • Participation is possible in sacred and secular categories of music with a free programme of 25 minutes (no obligatory of compulsory imposed work) of which one composition from the Middle Age/Renaissance, one from the Romantic period and one modern work, to be completed with a repertoire of your own choice. Participation with an entirely free programme (25 minutes) in folk music category is optional. An internationally renowned jury judges both conductors and choir singers. There are several prizes for contest winners in each category. • The inauguration concert consists of the first performance in Holland of Ruggiero Leoncavallo’s Requiem for soloists, instruments, organ and choir, in cooperation with the Budapesti Ifjúsági Kórus, Budapest, Hungary, conducted by Gerenday Ágnes. Choirs from Hungary, Ghana, Serbia, Georgia, Nepal, Slovakia and The Netherlands have already confirmed their participation. Ensembles from Italy, Russia, Germany, Croatia and Greece have shown their interest. • The concerts take place at various locations, mainly churches.
